Turnhout
This is a calender designed for the organisation ADR-Vlaanderen.
Zeebrugge is known for its flourishing port area. Tourists, both domestic and foreign, also know their way to Zeebrugge for a day trip or a slightly longer stay. The specific character of Zeebrugge also poses challenges for the city.
In 2016-2017, a study on the future of Zeebrugge was completed and led to a number of improvement actions that place a strong emphasis on connections between neighborhoods and residents. An additional boost was given by the 2022-2025 district improvement contract with five construction sites. The organization and support of connecting activities attracted the attention of ADR-Flanders.
A rather modest number of Romanians (1,300 in 2023) are largely based in Zeebrugge. Almost 40% (total of 550) of Romanians in Bruges live in Zeebrugge. The streets of Zeebrugge turn Romanian, so to speak. ADR-Flanders, in collaboration with the Diversity Service of Bruges, has started a process to stimulate the involvement of the Romanian community in the neighborhood work of Zeebrugge.
